This lesson activity helps students explore the impact- and opportunities- created by COVID-19.

The “Living Healthy Report 2022: A pulse check on our nation’s health, two years into the pandemic” has amalgamated the data/findings from surveying thousands of Australians about their healthy habits in the areas of eating, moving and feeling.

Download the report here (PDF) or student can access the report in a more easily digestible form on the interactive website here.

Depending on the enterprise skill that you wish develop in your young people, you could use this resource and focus on:

Adaptive Mindset:

  1. Break students into small groups and assign them a section of the Living Healthy report to read (e.g. the eat well, move well or feel well section).
  2. Have students identify examples from the report of how Australians have used their “Adaptive Mindset” in the area of health and wellbeing during the pandemic.
  3. Have students assign a spokesperson to communicate their group’s identified examples.
  4. Have students reflect on the following prompt: How have I developed my adaptive mindset during the pandemic?

Problem-Solving:

  1. Break students into small groups and assign them a section of the Living Healthy report to read (e.g. the eat well, move well or feel well section)
  2. Have students identity potential problems, challenges or opportunities (in the areas of health and wellbeing) from their section of report.
  3. Have students assign a spokesperson to communicate their group’s identified examples.
  4. Have students reflect on the following prompt: If I had to pick one of the problems/challenges/opportunities to address, which would I pick and WHY?
